• Sapwood: Light yellowish-gray.
• Heartwood: Grayish-brown to yellowish.
• Grain: Straight, often with slightly interlocked grain.

• Heartwood: Poorly or not at all impregnable
Mechanization
• Sawing: No problems, except for possible irritation from dust.
• Drying: Medium to fast speed. Minor risk of warping and cracking.
• Planing: No problems except for the sheen caused by pieces with interlocked grain and the aforementioned dust.
• Gluing: Risk of staining with alkaline glues.
• Nailing and screwing: Risk of splitting. Pre-drilling is recommended.
• Finishing: No difficulties.
