It is considered an alternative to Sapele when a lighter tone or less pronounced grain is desired, while maintaining a high aesthetic and technical standard. Its heartwood is reddish-brown with violet highlights , contrasting with the pinkish-white sapwood . The grain is typically straight or slightly interlocked, resulting in a smooth and decorative finish. It is widely used in fine carpentry, quality furniture, and light structural applications.
