The grain is typically straight, though it often features interlocking patterns that add beauty and dynamism to the veining. The texture is medium and compact, with visible growth rings. Its high density (approximately 1,070 kg/m³ at 12% moisture content) and excellent weather resistance make it a natural alternative to prestigious hardwoods like teak, offering an exceptional balance of strength, stability, and competitive cost. The sapwood is moderately impregnable, while the heartwood does not readily accept treatments. Cumaru is available in both continuous and fixed widths , as well as in staggered sections .
