Its color ranges from pale brown in the sapwood to pinkish-orange in the heartwood , which tends to darken in sunlight. The grain is usually straight , although it can sometimes exhibit a slight interlocking, and the texture is fine to medium , offering a uniform and elegant appearance. Its density, approximately 550–650 kg/m³, is medium, providing a balance between lightness and strength. The heartwood is notable for its high natural durability , even in humid or warm environments. The wood is workable , although it contains silica, which can dull tools, and protective gear is recommended during handling.
