Triplochiton scleroxylon (Botanical name) Common name: Ayous · Samba · Obeché · Origin: Central and West Africa Features of Ayous Ayous is a light, soft, and uniform wood, widely valued for its lightness and ease of machining . Its tone ranges from creamy white to pale yellowish-white, with a straight grain—sometimes slightly interlocked—and a medium to coarse texture. This combination gives it a clean, natural aesthetic and makes it very versatile for interior applications. Its low density and machinability make it a very suitable material for applications requiring moderate stability, lightness, and ease of working with both hand and power tools. All the Ayous wood we import has been kiln-dried (KD).
